Chemistry demonstrations for the classroom

Please join us Monday September 11 for a jam-packed session of Chemistry demonstrations.  Our speakers for the night will be members of the faculty and staff of the Department of Chemistry at Fresno State.

Have you ever wondered how a hot air balloon is able to fly, wanted a cheap and effective way to polish your antique silver, or noticed that fridge magnets won’t stick to your new stainless steel fridge?  A team of Chemistry professors and staff from Fresno State show how classroom demonstrations help explain key chemistry concepts. Classroom demonstrations are small experiments done in front of an audience to explain scientific concepts and facts. While demonstrations can be exciting – imagine the science fair volcano or one of Bill Nye’s explosions – we will show that demonstrations are also effective educational tools.
